REGROUPING

Creating a new look for your home may be as simple as rearranging your pictures or re-framing them to create a grouping.

The other day, a customer asked me if a wall grouping had to be framed all in the same frame.  I responded that it really depends on where it's going to hang and what is being framed.  There really are no rules, it's a matter of preference and style.  I described to her a framing job I had done in the past where the art was eclectic and we interwove mat colors, frames and styles of frames throughout the grouping and with her decor.  I explained that the outcome was a grouping with a lot of interest that kept the eye moving through the grouping and through the whole room.  I added that sometimes the art being framed is similar in size and color and looks best all in one color of mat and the same frame, creating a more formal look.  Framing all the art in the same color of frames but different sizes is another popular design.  Bottom line is the possibilities are endless and there are no rules, its the atmosphere you want to create for your home.

How to hang the grouping is another question that we get from our customers.  My advice is for them to use the craft paper that we wrap the pictures in for their journey home.  Cut the paper the exact same size of each picture to be hung.  You may lay out the papers on the floor first to get an idea of how you want to arrange the grouping.  After you have decided your layout, tape the paper to the wall using tape that won't peal the paint.  This method makes it easy to adjust the papers and move them around until you have the look and balance you want.   Measure your wire on the back of each picture by pulling it taut in the center and measuring from there  to the top of the frame.  If the wire is 3 inches from the top of the picture, then measure down 3 inches on its paper on the wall and there is where you will put your nail.  Do that for each picture, remove paper, hang and you've got your grouping!

Don't let creating a grouping overwhelm you.  Remember we can help you with the layout when we design your framing and the more you tell us about your decor, we can interweave the colors and styles into your room creating that new look you've been wanting. Groupings are a great focal point in the room.  By using your imagination and re-grouping you can create a whole new look for your home.
